As I prepare myself for a new school year I am reflecting on how to improve my teaching through improving the function of my Moodle. Working on my Moodle page is much like my prayer life always improving, and always a work in progress. Moodle is my classroom scripture page, if you read and follow Moodle you cannot help but earn an "A". Like Scripture it is the following part that is tricky.
The best improvement is the switch from weekly Moodle to Topics. Topics allow me to stay in one section irregardless of the week. From there, thanks to my fellow Moodle Angel, I show only the current topic; this should be less confusing for my students. The next improvement I am making is to use the labels in Moodle to organize each section of the Current Topic. I am organizing all of my parent videos into a book in my home section so any question they may have can be answered through one resource, goal is to reduce emails from parents. Unfortunately the parents are as bad as the students when it comes to actually watching the videos.
So the year begins full of hope, excitement, and the goal of an easy to follow Moodle. Updates to follow...
